Rachel and Max met while playing on the same intramural (yet surprisingly competitive) soccer team in NYC. While they didn't interact much during their first season—mostly due to team members rushing home to watch Game of Thrones—sparks flew after the very first game of their second season when the team went out for drinks at The Kent Ale House in Brooklyn.

Their first date was at a bowling alley in Brooklyn, where Rachel won in three straight sets and Max ate pizza with sauce despite hating tomatoes so as to not come off as picky. Immediately after their first date, the two became attached at the hip and have spent essentially every day thereafter together, falling quickly and wholeheartedly in love.
